# What You’ll Need:

→ Bread & Dairy

01 - 4 slices sourdough or country white bread
02 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
03 - 4 slices cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese

→ Meats

04 - 4 slices thick-cut bacon

→ Vegetables

05 - 1 ripe avocado, sliced
06 - 1 medium tomato, sliced
07 - 2 leaves romaine or butter lettuce

→ Condiments & Seasoning

08 - Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

# Directions:

01 - Cook bacon slices in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, approximately 6-8 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
02 - Lightly butter one side of each bread slice with softened butter.
03 - Place two bread slices buttered side down on a clean work surface. Layer each with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato slices, and avocado slices. Season avocado and tomato with salt and pepper. Top with remaining cheese slices and finish with remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
04 - Heat a large nonstick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Place assembled sandwiches in skillet and cook until golden brown and cheese is completely melted, approximately 3-4 minutes per side. Apply gentle pressure with a spatula during cooking.
05 - Remove sandwiches from skillet and allow to cool for 1-2 minutes. Slice diagonally in half and serve immediately.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It combines the smoky crunch of a BLT with the melty indulgence of grilled cheese in one glorious bite.
  • The creamy avocado adds richness that balances the crispy bacon and tangy cheese beautifully.
  • You can have it on the table in twenty minutes, making it perfect for lazy weekends or quick dinners.
  • Every ingredient plays a role, so each bite tastes layered and satisfying without being fussy.
02 -
  • If your heat is too high, the bread will burn before the cheese melts, so keep it at medium-low and be patient.
  • Softening the butter beforehand is crucial, cold butter tears the bread and makes spreading uneven.
  • Don't overload the sandwich or it will be impossible to flip and the fillings will slide out everywhere.
03 -
  • Pressing gently with the spatula while the sandwich cooks helps the cheese melt evenly and seals all the layers together.
  • If you want extra crunch, toast the inside of the bread lightly before assembling, it adds another textural layer that's worth the extra step.
  • Using a cast iron skillet gives you the most even browning and a beautifully crisp crust.
